In late July, a group of 60 students and 12 teachers from several PLK schools embarked on a STEAM study tour to Germany. The joint venture was organized by our college, PLK Tong Nai Kan Junior Secondary School, PLK Ma Kam Ming College, PLK Chan Yat Primary School, PLK Chee Jing Yin Primary School, and PLK HKTA Yuen Yuen Primary School.
During their time in Germany, the students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the country's rich history and cutting-edge scientific and technological advancements. Highlights of the tour included visits to the Berlin Wall, the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, and the Berlin Cathedral. They also explored the Berlin Technology Museum, Spectrum Science Center, and the Berlin Institute of Technology, gaining hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of scientific principles.
In Nuremberg, the group toured the Transport Museum and the Porsche Museum, while in Munich, they visited Marienplatz, St. Peter's Church, the New and Old Town Halls, and the Allianz Arena, home of the renowned Bayern Munich Football Club. The students also had the chance to visit the BMW production plant and BMW Welt, as well as the Deutsches Museum, one of the world's largest science and technology museums.
This study tour enhanced students' basic understanding of science, technology, engineering, and physics through hands-on experiences and workshops. They also learned about the historical development of science and technology in Germany, reflecting on the application and impact of technology, and gained inspiration for future advancements in science and technology. Additionally, the tour deepened their understanding of German history and culture, while fostering personal growth through collaborative activities between all participating students.
