Our school students participated in the STEAM@Soybean Gansu Study Trip organized by the School of Life Sciences, CUHK, state Key Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology, CUHK, and the 2.1 Big Education Platform from July 17th to July 21st, 2023. The activities included visits to various locations in Northwestern China, including the National Water-saving Experimental Station (Wuwei), Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences (Lanzhou), Northwest A&F University (Lanzhou), Soybean Plantation (Zhangye), Gaohua Seed Company (Jiuquan), and the Longfeng Gorge Tianfu Shagong (Lanzhou). Students learned about the unique weather and geographical conditions in Northwestern China and the challenges of agricultural production in arid environments. They also gained an understanding of how scientists persistently research agricultural technology to make significant contributions to national food security.
